Thanks for stopping by to learn about our farm.

We currently raise a
small flock of chickens for eggs. Our flock is mainly Araucuna hens, which
lay green eggs. The eggs are sold the The Good Harvest Market in Pewaukee.
Since we use no growth hormones and allow the chickens a natural life,
production varies with the seasons. Please contact the Good Harvest Market
for availability.
Our barn began life as a one-floor
structure. The center sections were built about 1848. Hand-hewn beams and
timbers and thick oak planking are what give the building its strength and
beauty. The overall size of our barn is about 30' x 90'. The top of the
roof-line stands about 35'.
Sometime around 1900, the building was
enlarged and lifted up to have its current foundation poured under it.
During its heyday, our barn housed and milked about 50 cows.
The original farmstead consisted of our
buildings, plus a farmhouse. Once Sunset Drive was extended the house was
cut off from the farm and sold.
What is currently the house was originally
the farm's granary. It was later converted to use as a bunkhouse, about the
time this farmstead became part of the Wern Valley Dairy Farms. About 1970,
the building was converted into a duplex and was rented until we purchased
the property in 2002 and converted it into a single family house.
Local lore has it that
our property was part of a very large parcel which comprised the Wern Farms.
They began as a 40 acre land grant which was given to the Williams
family by President Polk in 1848. Eventually, the Wern Farms had over 2000
acres on 7 farms with over 600 dairy cows. It was the first certified dairy
in the area.
Research at the Waukesha County Courthouse
indicates that the Williams family owned the property prior to Wisconsin's
statehood. They maintained ownership of our property until approximately 1991.
Our farm has an interesting and long history. We are
currently putting together the information for this page, including
searching for historic photos.
Please check in again soon for updates and new
information.
